Pug is my little baby

I very often recall how I went to my grandmother in my childhood, and my sisters played with a small dog, with the ridiculous name of a pug. Then I did not even guess that this is the name of the breed. A lot of time passed, and my daughter was presented with a pug for her birthday. This breed of dog causes a smile on the face of all people. Pug – a companion dog, she does not leave her owner for a minute, always nearby. But there is a small peculiarity of this dog, she snores in her sleep, like people, and sometimes, very loudly, but this does not prevent her from remaining a favorite in the family. This is an ancient Chinese breed of dog, which at all times was one of the favorite dogs of noble families, especially in England and France. After all, even the beloved of Napoleon had a pug, nicknamed Fortune. There is a moment in history when a pug saved the king of Holland during the war with Spain. With a bark and a scratch, he woke the king when the Spaniards attacked the sleeping camp. Since that time, having a pug in the house was considered a sign of good taste. Pugs became fashionable at the end of the 20th century.

How to care for pugs?

Claws. I studied the Internet and books on caring for this wonderful dog for a very long time. First of all, it is necessary to control the growth of her claws, if they are too long, they will not only disfigure the dog’s fingers, interfere with her walk, but will also change her gait and raising her paws. In the warm season, during a walk, pugs grind their claws on asphalt, but not in winter. In this case, I felt that it would not be superfluous to contact a veterinarian so that he taught me how to cut claws correctly. And you need to cut them twice a month.

The ears. Ears should be cleaned often, just like in humans, earwax is collected from the pug, and it can form plugs, which leads to inflammation. Cleaning my dog’s ears takes me a bit of time. I take a regular ear bud, dip it in sea buckthorn oil (you can use it in liquid paraffin, or just water), and gently but deeply wipe the ear canal until the cotton wool is clean. Then I just wipe the dog’s ear. There are times when insects get into the ear of a pet, in which case it starts to shake its head strongly, if you find it worth dropping fruit oil (apricot or peach) into the ear, the insect will pop up itself. Very often pugs become infected with an ear tick. In this case, the dog will exhibit strange behavior and a constant desire to scratch the ear, it is advisable not to start this disease, and consult a doctor, the longer the pug is sick, the more serious the complications. One of the most common pug diseases is otitis media. Symptoms of otitis media are chamois – purulent discharge from the ear. In such cases, I immediately turn to the veterinarian for help. At an early stage, this disease is treated for a short time with is not difficult, and advanced otitis media is sometimes treated for years. At about 4 months old, pugs break their ears. And they do not acquire a very beautiful shape, but you can return them to the old one, that is, glue them. To do this, I took two strips of adhesive tape approximately 10-15 cm long. 0.5 cm wide. I folded the eyelet with the outer edges inward and fixed it with a band-aid. So for about two weeks, the patch held his ear, and he got off himself. Then the ear could hold for about 5 – 10 days, but each dog had a different one, so as soon as the ear broke again, I repeated the procedure with the patch. I did so until a year and a half. Then the ears took shape, and the more I did not glue them. But this is not necessary. For beauty only.

Eyes. This is one of the pug sore spots. Pugs are very low, and therefore a lot of dust is collected in the eyes, it manifests itself with mucus. Necessarily, especially after a walk, it is necessary to remove it with a cotton swab so that the infection does not enter the eye. But, which is very important, the fleece should be dry, or moistened in water, but in no case should it be wiped with tea, boric or manganese acid, this can burn the mucous membrane of the eye and cause chronic conjunctivitis. If there is pus with mucus, it is advisable to consult a doctor for advice, at least for the first time. As for humans, different tampons should be used on each eye. It should be noted that the dog’s eyes are very sensitive to drafts and wind, they cause inflammation of the mucous membrane of the eye and conjunctivitis.

The external genitalia. If the puppy has purulent discharge from the genitals, this can be not only a cold, but also an exit of dust and dirt. Puppies do not know how to care for themselves, so all care falls on the owner. I wash it with a solution of chamomile or a weak solution of manganese in the morning and evening, if necessary. More often in the summer, when the street is dry and a lot of dust. But it is worthwhile to carefully monitor the secretions in adult dogs, if they are observed, you need to see a doctor, the sooner the better.

Pug tail This is the most dangerous place. It is worth warning everyone who will play with the pug that you should never, under any situations, pull and spin the pug’s tail! This results in injury to the spine of the dog. Even a fracture is possible.

Pug character
The pug has an excellent character, the dog is a kind and very sociable creature. He loves to play and have fun, while the dog is considered not very active.…
