Pug has come! (part 1)

A small, harmonious, tightly knit dog with a large head and a short wide muzzle. Above the small flattened black nose are large dark and talking eyes. Tail ringlet. These dogs with a monkey face are winning the hearts of many. But if you figure it out and look deeper, live and talk with Pug, you will understand that it is not the appearance, but the valuable inner qualities of this dog that will bind you forever. Pug has virtually no purpose but to keep you in great company and love. Endowed with intelligence, childishly innocent, courageous, sincere, curious, attentively respectful and infinitely loyal – sometimes it seems that this is not a dog … they are so humanized. Looking into your eyes, Pug believes that if he listens carefully enough, then, in the end, he will certainly master human speech. Of all the dog breeds created by man, only a few have a history that could compare with the history of Pugs. Myths and legends surround these dogs. Images of bizarre short-faced, pug-like, with large convex eyes and a cropped nose nose dogs, carved in jade, molded from clay and made in ceramics, have been found since the birth of Buddhist civilization in the East. Pugs owe their present appearance to the British. It was in England that serious breeding work was begun, which led to the emergence of the modern type of Pugs, a breed so beloved throughout the world. The Pug Club was founded in 1883, and the first exhibition was held in 1885. In 1888, the breed standard was adopted.

From the early days of the appearance of Pugs in England, there are silver and apricot colors in this breed. Black Pugs later appeared. The poetic decoding of the name of the colors of the pugs sounds interesting: apricot – “the warmth of the sun”, silver – “the brilliance of the moon” and black – “blackness of the night.” Today the Pug is a breed popular and widespread throughout the world. Ukraine is no exception. We can proudly note that “our” Pug combines not only beauty and compliance with the standard, but also the good physical health of this wonderful breed. The undoubted fact is that it is thanks to the work of our breeders that Ukraine can be proud of its livestock of Pugs. Over the three years of the All-Ukrainian Breed Club’s activity, very interesting dogs from well-known and strong kennels of Russia, Europe and America have been brought to Ukraine. Pugs, which have an amazing origin and very valuable descendants, allowing you to pour in new blood and bring a harmonious combination of standard and quality. Under the wing of the LEATHER SHOES, MY PROYAL PRESENT and ASTI MONDORO nurseries, a very strong livestock of black pugs was obtained. Dogs of black color, until recently, could hardly compete in the ring with dogs of beige color, losing them in the exterior. At the moment, the enormous result has been achieved by the efforts of these nurseries. Ukrainian black dogs have excellent anatomy, good bones, a beautiful voluminous head, and a deep black color. They can and show very high results in the most prestigious European and world rings.

The history of the creation of the All-Ukrainian Club of the Pug breed goes far beyond 2008. Visiting national exhibitions in Russia and watching the development of the breed there, we could not help but understand that the creation of a national breed club would have a positive impact on the development of Pugs in Ukraine. The opportunity to unite and bring together owners and breeders together, to identify general trends in the development of the breed, set goals and define tasks related to working with the Pug breed – this was made possible thanks to the support of the President of the Kennel Union of Ukraine, George Onishchenko. On September 13, 2008, by the decision of the Constituent Congress, which was attended by delegates from 7 regions of Ukraine, many leading nurseries and just the owners of this wonderful breed, the All-Ukrainian Club of the Pug Breed (VKPM) was created.
